A Case Of The Mondays!!

4:40 am came WAY too early this morning. I use Mondays as a rest day, so I had nothing to motivate me to get out of bed. It was a pretty good weekend getting stuff done around the house. Except for one thing: The dreaded tupperware cupboard!!

That's just the top shelf. I've been putting it off and putting it off, but it finally got to the point that I was flat out afraid to open it for fear something would fall out and break my toe. I have a slight obsession for Tupperware. I can't help myself. Maybe there is Tupperware Anonymous somewhere out there. So, when I got home from work today I put on my big girl pants and cleaned it out.

I threw a ton of stuff away and can now sleep at night knowing it's cleaned out and I don't have to worry about a possible emergency room visit when I open the doors.

Yes, it's true. I do love the occasional golden arch. My dad is coming up tonight, so it was going to be something simple and straight out of the drive thru window *gasp*. Don't worry though....I had the Southwest Salad and maybe a small fry. Matt had the two cheeseburger meal, a coke, and two apple pies. Men and their fast metabolisms make me sick. I gained 5 pounds just looking at that meal.

Well, I'm out!!

Question of the night:

Is there one area of your house you DREAD cleaning?

Happy Weekend!!

Hey guys!! How is everyone's weekend going? Mine has been pretty good thus far. Sorry it's been a few days. Sometimes life just gets in the way and I'm ok with that really. I was freaking out that I missed a few days blogging, but once I sat back, I realized that it will happen sometimes. Rule #1 for myself: sometimes I won't be able to blog everyday and that's ok.

I started my day at the dentist....Boo!!!!
Nothing major. Just a filling. Who wants to do that first thing on a Saturday morning though? Once that was done, I headed home and threw dinner into the crock pot. Ahhh....how I love thee crock pot.

*Polish Kraut and Kielbasa*

Smoked Turkey Kielbasa

Brown Sugar

Apple Juice

Throw all that in the crock pot and let it cook for about 4 hours.

The actual recipe calls for apples as well, but I have never done that.

A little tid bit- once I make a recipe so many times, I have no idea what the measurements are. I just throw stuff in. Sorry for no exact measurements.

Once I was done putting dinner in the crock pot, I took a nice 6 mile run through the downtown area where I live. It's a nice day here so I took full advantage of that.

I forgot to put sunscreen on though. Hopefully I won't look like leatherface tomorrow!!

Post Workout Smoothie

As soon as I was done, I made up this delicious baby

Into the blender went:

1 cup almond milk

1 cup frozen strawberries

1/2 cup crushed pineapple

1 scoop Jillian Micheals Chocolate Protein Powder

It was delicious!!

I also added a drop of this little beauty!! This stuff is AMAZING!! It's like a tropical vacation in a glass. For real :)

Well, I'm out to finish dinner and get my eyebows done (it's been WAY too long)

Question of the night:

What is your favorite crock pot recipe?

Holy Weather!!

This was my view on my way home today!! Whoa!! Those of us here in the mitten state are used to ALL kinds of crazy weather, but today was A DAY!!

While at work, we had to take cover and a tree fell in the parking lot. Crazy Stuff

What better way to end a day with some crazy storms?

A snack size Rolo McFlurry from McDonalds and I ate every. last. stinking. bite. It was delicious.

So yesterday, I was feeling under the weather and had been for the last few days. I usually weight lift on Tuesdays, but I knew that wasn't going to happen so I told myself I would just walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes. After sitting in the locker room for 20 minutes (I might have been playing on my iPhone), I finally made it to the treadmill. I made it exactly 58 seconds before I hopped right off and ended up right back in the locker room.

This is exactly how I felt yesterday

I felt awful about not actually being able to work out, but a nice 3 mile run this morning made up for it!!

Question of the night:

Does it bother you if something comes up and you can't work out?

For me, I don't let it bother me too much but I like my routine and I like the way working out makes me feel

....yes you read that right. Thank God It's Monday.

You see, this girls rest day is Monday. That means I do zilch, zip, nada (except work of course). So, I figured today would be the perfect day to introduce the man of the house

He is our two and a half year old Boxer who is an absolute delight. We got him when he was seven weeks old

He is the best dog EVER (of course I'm a little partial).

He is the best walking/running partner a girl could ask for. Just a quick little post to introduce him. I'm sure you will see lots more of him!!

Question of the night:

Do you have an animal that absolutely rocks your world?

T.G.I.F (yesterday)

Before I knew it yesterday, it was like 11:00 p.m. and this girl was too tired to function let alone type a blog. So forgive me.

My day started with this....

Oh spin, how I love thee. It's actually an hour class, but due to my work schedule I can only stay for 35 minutes.

....and ended with this

Yes, the day before I almost fainted when there was pizza at work, but Friday's in our house is PIZZA NIGHT!! Nice, greasy, cheesy, fattening pizza (and bread sticks....with ranch).

So I woke up this morning, and had a goal to run 11 miles. I DID IT. During the last 3 miles I thought for sure I was going to meet my maker, but all that mattered was that I did it. Yay me!!

Before run

After run

I literally had sweat dripping off of my shirt

Post Run Treat

I LOVE organic chocolate milk and I really didn't feel like coming home, pulling out my blender, putting ingredients together for a protein smoothie, etc etc. This little beauty was my next best option.

After that, we had some family come and visit and we spent some time at the park with their kids.

The park is much bigger. This is just a little part of it.

Then went to National Coney Island and had lunch. My meal was a greek salad and chicken lemon rice.

All in all, a pretty good Saturday up here in the mitten state.

Question of the night:

What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday?

My favorite thing to do is curl up with a great book

This. Actually. Happened.

It's true. I walked into work today and was informed there would be pizza AND cupcakes today. Clearly, the food gods thought they would be funny today. I was in too much shock to snap a picture.

My reaction:

For the most part, I eat healthy. However, when nice, greasy, fattening, melting cheese gloriousness is placed in front of me I could eat 3....boxes. The same goes with cupcakes. I will eat them until I'm blue in the face. I couldn't not eat any of it, so I had one piece of pizza (after I googled the nutrition facts of course) and the top of a cupcake.

Success in my book if you ask me. I wanted to face dive into the pepperoni pizza.

*Workout this morning*

35 minutes of total body weights followed by 20 minutes of HIIT ( http://hiitsource.com). I really like doing this a few times a week after my weight training. Mine was done on the treadmill this morning and looked like this: 1:30 secs easy followed by 30 secs hard core. My easy mph was 3.5 and my hard core was 7.5. I ninja kicked about an extra 200 calories in those 20 minutes.

*Question of the night:

What is one food (or food type) that makes you want to eat until you explode?

For me, it would be mexican food!!

It Was One Of Those Mornings

I would have rather given up my first born child than get out of bed this morning!! For real. Wednesdays are short run days for me, so I pushed it as LONG AS I COULD!! When I did get up, I was cursing at myself for sleeping later than planned. It's a lose lose with me really. You really can't make me happy :)

Breakfast consisted of:

*Overnight Oats*
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
Pumpkin Pie Spice sprinkled on top

*Homemade Granola Bar*
Recipe to follow soon

Off to the gym I went and did a short 3 mile run and then got ready for work.

My goal is an 11 mile run this weekend. Aside from the goal of running, my other goal is to not pass out and die.

This is a short post because 16 and Pregnant is calling my name from the DVR. That show is mine and Hubby's guilty pleasure.

Question of the night:

What is your favorite guilty pleasure show?

I have a ton- One Tree Hill, 16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom, etc....etc....

It's That Time of Year Again

That's right ladies and gentleman- the Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual Sale!!!! I usually do MAJOR damage at this sale, but I gave myself a budget and stuck to it....just barely. It was not easy.

Today was a pretty good day. I usually work out in the mornings, but when the old alarm went off at 4:40 am, it wasn't happening. So, off to work I went and then went to the gym after (which I HATE doing. With a passion). I contemplated rather or not to do my weight training today or just do kickboxing (which holds a huge spot in my heart....not as much as spin though). In the end, I decided to do my weight training. I did about 35 minutes of about 12 different exercises back to back to back and then followed that with 20 minutes of easy treadmill.

10s are what I roll with right now. By the end of my session they felt like they were 512 pounds. Check out the sweet purple cup; best $12.00 I've ever spent. Well, I'm off for the night.

Question before I jump off here:

how many pounds do you guys roll with when doing free weights?

Depending on what I'm doing, I roll with 5, 10, or 15 pounds. Mostly I use the 10's though.

The Beginning of Something FUN

After tossing the idea to start a blog around in my head for a while, I figured "why not? You only live once right?"

This is ME. Not sugarcoated. Just ME. My ups and downs in the fitness world....my attempts at eating healthy (trust me, this girl can PUT IT AWAY)....my running goals and races I will be participating in....and basically just life in general.

I promise there will also be pictures, just not on this post. I'm a loser....I forgot my camera. Please forgive me this time :)
